Class Policies

You'll be asked to fill out a release form with your contact information at the first class. This is so Maia can contact someone in case of an emergency, send you information via email about classes and keep you apprised of events in the community that might be of interest to you. Please let her know if you don't want to receive these emails.

Please wear comfortable clothing that will not restrict your movement and will allow Maia to observe your body alignment (shorts, fitted t-shirts, leggings, yoga pants, sweats, leotards). You may wish to tie a scarf around your hips to show off your movements. There will be a box of sparkly scarves at class for you to borrow. We dance in bare feet, socks or soft-sole dance shoes.

We have fun! This is time for you. Leave your stress at the door. We remain positive and loving with our bodies.

At Maia's discretion, relatives/friends are welcome to observe the class. Class is not an opportunity for ogling. Participation requires registration. Please do not bring small children to the class.

Cell phones and pagers need to be in silent mode unless there is an emergency.

In the event of inclement weather, you may contact Maia by phone at 503-704-0093 for an update on class status. Usually an email will go out to inform you if your class has been cancelled. Your personal safety is the most important thing, so please do not risk injury to yourself or others if road conditions in your area are difficult.

Maia collects items left behind at the end of a class, so please let her know if you've misplaced something -- she might have it! Items are retained for 30 days, and then donated to local charities.

Side-effects may include:  lip-synching in languages you don't know; increased attraction to anything sparkly; appreciation for your wonderful body, especially your hips; steering-wheel drumming; shimmying while doing the dishes; new insights into other cultures; and the ability to pat head and rub tummy at the same time. Consult your doctor before beginning any new exercise program.
